Antarctica Melting Beauty

Antarctica Melting Beauty

ARGENTINE ANTARCTICA,
2020

Antarctica: a mythical, abysmal, solitary and fragmented beauty.

«The journey in search of one’s soul ends here, where space and light coincide, where the end of the world meets the end of the planet.

What do we await? This greedy and cruel humanity shall only survive following a catharsis and a new renaissance. Will a conscience awakening be able to save us? The other end of Apocalypse is still a long way off.»

These photographs of icebergs and seascapes of the Argentine Antarctica were taken in early 2020, right at the beginning of the pandemic.

Marzotto’s images depict the fragmentation of a landscape that until recently has been pictured in its majestic immensity. Now through her lens it is on display as an environmental catastrophe affecting a region that is fundamentally life-sustaining for our Planet. The archipelago of tiny islets set adrift shock us with the beauty and sadness of the melting, once monumental, icebergs.
